Weeki Wachee woman sentenced in companion's shooting

Gabrielle Bohn, 22, was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter after fatally shooting her fiancé.
On April 20, 2023, the Hernando County Sheriff's Office received a phone call from a woman on Nordica Road in Weeki Wachee who was performing CPR on her son after he was shot in the head. The man was rushed to Tampa General but died of his injuries on the way to the hospital.

Police later discovered Bohn was lying with the victim when he was shot. Bohn said she tried to hand the gun to her fiancé when it accidentally went off, shooting him in the head. However, the victim was not reaching for the gun when it went off.

Bohn told authorities they had previously argued about his drug problem when Bohn placed the gun in his waistband. When the gun went off, the witness, who was the victim's mother, ran out of her room. When she entered the couple's bedroom, she saw Bohn holding the victim. The victim's mother, who is a nurse, performed CPR on her son in an attempt to save his life and called 911.

According to the arrest affidavit, Bohn repeatedly stated, “It was an accident” and she “didn't mean to shoot him.”

However, Bohn was arrested on April 20, 2023, for manslaughter by culpable negligence, and her bond was set at $10,000.

On June 6, 2024, Bohn was convicted of manslaughter after pleading guilty to the charges. She will serve 15 years in the Florida Department of Corrections, followed by ten years of probation.
