Wedding turns into chaos with groom arrested after guest accused of 'flirting' with woman who wasn't his wife

A groom and another guest were arrested at a wedding celebration in Indiana after an altercation led to a shooting.

A wedding descended into chaos with reports of a shooting and the groom being arrested.

We all know what family gatherings can be like: there's always someone who ends up having a few too many drinks, usually an argument or two, and sometimes even someone storming out.

However, that Indiana wedding really ended in disaster.

Indiana State Police were called to a wedding night at Cornerstone Hall on May 18 by a woman who claimed her boyfriend had just been shot — in what she described as an accident drunk – by the groom named Corey Parker.

Although they are legally married in 2022, Parker and his wife decided to celebrate their wedding earlier this month.

The woman who called 911 said Parker argued and fought with another guest named Jonathon Goff after Goff's wife accused him of flirting with another woman.

And Parker then gave his version of events to authorities.

The groom told police that his and Goff's wife returned to a hotel they were staying at in Salem called the Cobblestone Hotel, Wave reports.

Parker claims that while leaving the reception, he got into an argument with Goff and they both allegedly pushed each other before Parker tried to leave, getting into his car.

The groom alleges that Goff then followed him in the car and a gun located inside the vehicle ended up in both of their hands.

“In all that rustling, the gun went off,” he said, while the woman who had called the boyfriend 911 found herself in the line of fire.

It has not been publicly stated whether it was Parker or Goff who ultimately pulled the trigger, with the woman who called 911 noting that the entire incident sounded like a drunken altercation and Parker eluding the confusing hubbub that ensured .

The groom noted that he never intended to shoot the other guest and believes they may have tried to intervene in his fight with Goff to try to calm them down.

The Daily Mail reports that the man who was shot was fortunately not seriously injured after being shot in the hand.

Both Parker and Goff were reportedly charged with battery and criminal recklessness committed with a deadly weapon.

Both pleaded not guilty to their crimes, were ordered held on $3,000 bail and are expected to appear in court next month before going to trial in September later this year.
