COACHELLA, CA — Two men were behind bars Monday on suspicion of weapons violations and child endangerment following reports of gunfire in Coachella.

Riverside County sheriff's officers arrived at the 50000 block of Camino Coras in Coachella at 3:55 p.m. Sunday after receiving reports of shots fired, according to a statement from Coachella Lt. Deputies also found “evidence of multiple firearms being discharged” in a careless manner, Davis said.

No injuries were reported.

Frank Molina, 38, a Mecca resident, and Bernardo Moreno, 46, a Coachella resident, were both arrested at 11:55 p.m. and booked into the John Benoit Detention Center overnight on suspicion of negligent use of a firearm and willful endangerment of a child. Details regarding the alleged child endangerment were not immediately available.

Both men were held on $35,000 bail and were scheduled to appear in court Wednesday in Indio.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Deputy Sheriff Preciado at 760-863-8990.
