We identified MDAs with outdated policies – FG

The federal government says it has identified certain ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) whose policies are outdated.

Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Coordination, Hadiza Bala-Usman, disclosed this on Monday in Abuja during the inauguration of the Sectoral Policy Review and Harmonization Committee.

Bala-Usman said the committee was inaugurated to help the government review sectoral policies to strengthen collaboration across sectors.

She said: “The key aspects that we have noted are the lack of inter-relationship between sectoral policies and the Federal Government has deemed it appropriate to constitute this team which will look at how sectoral policies would be reviewed, how sectoral policies would be coordinated. , how this would improve collaboration between sectors.

“We noted the concern over some outdated policies that exist in our sectors and the need for us to engage with the respective ministries and respective stakeholders to come up with the current policy rollout that reflects the realities of what is needed to achieve our eight goals. presidential priorities.

“So that’s what this team is going to work on. We will rely on subject matter experts across all sectors. We will work with the respective ministries and heads of agencies to see what needs to be done to improve the deployment of our policies across federal government sectors and ministries.

Professor Ayo Omotayo, Director General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), said: “NIPPS, in collaboration with other collaborating agencies, will provide the nation with an actionable plan and develop a framework for implemented, so that the policies of Nigeria are no longer in contradiction with the policies of Nigeria. themselves.

“We will ensure that the conflicting cross-sectoral issues in our policies are also resolved at the end of the efforts we are trying to make. NIPSS will make every effort to provide whatever support the Special Advisor requires. the work done for the nation.
