WCSO: Man arrested after firing gun in Gray while driving drunk | WJHL

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A man was arrested Tuesday on multiple charges after deputies reported hearing gunshots in Gray.

According to a news release from the Washington County Tennessee Sheriff's Office (WCSO), officers were patrolling near the Gray Community Center when they heard gunshots. Officers spotted a white truck driving on Gray Station Road and reportedly heard more gunshots.

The truck was stopped by police at a fast food restaurant down the street.

WCSO reports five people got out of the vehicle. The driver, later identified as Rodrigo Martinez, 29, of Lenoir City, allegedly told officers there was a gun in the truck.

Rodrigo also admitted to shooting into the air while driving and drinking alcohol, the release states.

According to WCSO, after receiving permission to search the truck, investigators found a weapon on the roadway matching the shell casings. Other firearms were also found in the bed of the truck.

Martinez was arrested shortly after midnight and charged with possession of a handgun under the influence, reckless endangerment and driving under the influence.

Martinez was transported to the Washington County Detention Center and placed on $7,000 bond. He is due to appear in court on Wednesday.
