An investigation into the incident by Butler County dog wardens and detectives led to George's arrest. George was charged. with cruelty to a pet, a felony of the fifth degree. A Wayne Township man was arrested after deputies say he stabbed his family's dog to death.

According to the Butler County Sheriff's Office, the incident began on Sunday, June 9, when Nicholas Jack George, 27, threatened his wife, telling her that if he “killed her dog, she would never find him.”

Monday evening, deputies said the dog, named Bowie, was found stabbed to death.

An investigation into the incident by Butler County dog wardens and detectives led to George's arrest.

George was charged with cruelty to a pet, a fifth-degree felony. He was booked into the Butler County Jail Tuesday, the sheriff said.
