Watertown man receives suspended sentence for drug charges | Local News

{KXLG – Watertown, SD} Andrew Lee Fryer, 33, of Watertown, was sentenced on April 10, 2024, on controlled substance charges. Fryer pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a controlled substance listed in Schedule I or II and one count of unauthorized ingestion of a controlled substance listed in Schedule I or II.

The charges stem from an incident investigated in September 2023.

Fryer received a five-year suspended sentence for each possession charge and a five-year suspended sentence for the unauthorized ingestion charge. He will serve two years of probation for all charges. He was also ordered to:

  • Pay court costs and surcharges totaling $316.50
  • Reimburse the county for the cost of laboratory testing and analysis
  • Undergo a mental health and alcohol/chemical dependency evaluation and comply with any recommended treatment
  • Stay sober and refrain from entering establishments where alcohol is the primary item for sale
  • Get a full-time job or attend school full-time
  • Submitting to random searches of one's person and property by law enforcement or judicial services
  • Comply with all other probation conditions set by the judicial services

A third charge of possessing a premises for the use or sale of a controlled substance was dismissed by prosecutors.
