Wanted Cheyenne man arrested, released on bond the next day

A 40-year-old Cheyenne man is free on bond after being arrested on a warrant for criminal destruction of property.

According to a booking sheet, Michael David Pena was arrested at 1:31 p.m. on Memorial Day, May 27, after a Laramie County sheriff's corporal spotted him driving his gold Honda and, knowing that he had a warrant, arrested him at 751 Ave. .

β€œHe came back with a felony arrest warrant.”

β€œI relayed Michael's information to dispatch and he came back with an arrest warrant for destruction of property,” the corporal said in his probable cause remarks.

The warrant was signed by Laramie County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Lee on May 20, 2024.

Pena was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center on his warrant and seen in circuit court the next morning, May 28.

Pena was granted a $2,500 signature bond, allowing him to be released from jail without having to post bail, provided he returns to court for his preliminary hearing, set for June 5 at 1:30 p.m., and it respects any other conditions. set by the court.

If convicted, Pena faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000, or both.
