The Christian Academy of Louisiana released a statement Friday, June 7, detailing its cooperation with law enforcement following the arrest of one of their former volunteer coaches.

According to the release, the volunteer coach was banned from campus and all contact with students after the allegations were brought to the attention of school administration and the investigation began immediately.

“Children should never be victims of sexual assault and we are deeply troubled that someone would attempt such horrible things with our students,” school officials wrote.

School officials also released the following details of their standard protocols for any incidents that may constitute a violation of the law:

  • If the context poses no problem, an employee can carry out their defined functions (this includes volunteer and salaried employees).
  • If allegations of misconduct are made, an investigation is initiated.
  • If the allegation involves possible illegal activity, appropriate law enforcement is notified.
  • CAL is fully cooperating with any investigation.
  • During the investigation, the employee is placed on administrative leave or, in the case of a volunteer, immediately removed from school-related interactions until the matter is resolved.
  • Parents/guardians are informed of any allegations.
  • The final results are the result of the police investigation and response to the allegations.

The employee/volunteer must pass a background check prior to any interaction with the student, school officials confirmed.
