Virginia man faces assault charges after bar fight, stabbing last weekend

Charges have been filed in connection with a stabbing in Virginia.

Israel Contreras, 47, now faces assault and dangerous weapons charges.

According to the criminal complaint, Contreras thought another man was talking about him and started a physical fight.

It was outside the Rainy Lake Saloon, around 2:40 a.m. Sunday.

Contreras pulled out a pocket knife and allegedly stabbed the victim five times. The victim had to be operated on.

A woman who tried to break up the fight was also stabbed in the leg, according to the complaint.

Contreras remains in jail on $100,000 bail.
