Vince McMahon's sex trafficking trial suspended amid federal investigation

A sex trafficking and sexual misconduct lawsuit filed against former WWE boss Vince McMahon by an employee has been put on hold while the U.S. Department of Justice conducts its own investigation.

Janel Grant, a former WWE headquarters employee, has agreed to temporarily stay her lawsuit against McMahon, WWE and John Laurinaitis, the company's former head of talent relations, at the request of the U.S. Attorney for the District southern New York to authorize a federal investigation.

“MS. Grant has consented to a request from the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York to stay his case against Mr. McMahon, WWE and Mr. Laurinaitis, pursuant to an ongoing non-public investigation,” the attorney's statement said. Grant. Ann Callis said in a statement to the United States TODAY Sports. “We will cooperate on all appropriate next steps.”

According to court documents filed in Connecticut in January, Grant alleges that McMahon pushed her into “a physical relationship in exchange for a long-promised job with WWE,” which involved forced sex, photo sharing and of private videos, as well as coercion.
