Village chief and councilor suspended for alleged theft

The Gombe State Government has suspended Mohammed Majidadi, village head of Garin Majidadi in Akko Local Government Area, following allegations of theft.

He also suspended Abdullahi M. Panda, a councilor from Kumo East ward.

The Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Njodi, said in a statement on Friday that the Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, had ordered the immediate suspension of the affected personnel.

“The suspensions follow recent developments involving the two officials, who were presented by the Gombe State Police Command and who are currently on trial over allegations of conspiracy in the theft and subsequent sale of a transformer community electricity in Garin Majidadi,” the press release said.

“The suspension of the two officials is a preventive measure to ensure that there is no interference in the judicial process.”

He said Governor Yahaya reiterated his administration's commitment to the rule of law, expressing confidence that justice will prevail and the law will take its course, not only against Majidadi and Panda, but also against any other individuals found complicit in the theft.
