Video: Semi-trailer fire on Intestate 85 Business/US 29/70 South in High Point

HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — Traffic is interrupted and detoured following a vehicle fire on Interstate 85 Business/US 29/US 70.

Video on the I-85 bus. shows a tractor-trailer overturned and bursting into flames on the side of the road, under a bridge, and traffic is diverted.

There appears to be debris falling in the bridge area and a fire.

The crash happened near Old Thomasville Road.

High Point police said a hazardous materials team was called to the scene.

Guil-Rand Fire says two people suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash and the fire has been extinguished.

The southbound lanes of I-85 bus. will remain closed for an extended period.

Officials with the North Carolina Department of Transportation are assessing damage to the bridge and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
