Victims, Survivors of Deadly Texas Plane Crash Identified – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

The NTSB opened its investigation into a fatal plane crash in McKinney on Friday, the same day Texas DPS identified two of the crash victims.

The National Transportation Safety Board said preliminary information indicates the Cessna 414 took off from McKinney National Airport and struck the ground inverted about a mile south of the airport.

It hit a mound in a concrete yard.

NBC 5 has learned the pilot and two mechanics were on board when the plane crashed shortly before 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

The pilot, Michael Lewis, 67, was the father, grandfather and husband of former Forney Mayor Amanda Lewis.

He was also a pilot and, according to his son, volunteered to fly nearly 150 missions transporting patients to health centers for free.

“He was an exceptional driver,” Benjamin Lewis said. “He is the most incredible man I have ever met. »

Lewis was also the CEO of Paluxy Oil and Gas.

After leaving McKinney National Airport, flight radar showed the plane turned left before crashing.

Witness video shows workers at the site using hoses to put out the flames.

Texas DPS identified Gustavo Moreno, 53, of Royse City, as the second fatality. According to his biography, he was a husband and father of five children.

The lone survivor, who was airlifted to Parkland Hospital in critical condition, was identified by relatives as Randy Williams, father of a 2-year-old son.

His family said Williams was stable, “fighting hard and already improving.”
