Victims of Kankakee County banquet shooting identified

Pembroke Township, Ill. – Authorities have identified the victims of a shooting at a local banquet hall Friday evening that left two people dead and several others injured.

According to the Kankakee County Sheriff's Office, officers responded around 11:51 p.m. Friday to reports of shots fired at 13100 E Central St. Upon arrival, officers found large crowds fleeing two parties in the room. Five victims were discovered with gunshot wounds, two of whom were pronounced dead, one at the scene and another at a nearby hospital.

The Kankakee County Coroner's Office identified the deceased as Edward E. Colon, 32, of Chicago, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and Milton J. Sykes, 44, of Kankakee, who died of his injuries at Riverside Medical Center. Autopsies confirmed that both men died from multiple gunshot wounds.
