Victims of deadly Springfield double stabbing identified

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – Authorities have released the names of two people who were killed in a weekend stabbing in Springfield.

Jim Leydon, a spokesman for the Hampden County District Attorney's Office, said Springfield police were called to a reported domestic disturbance in the 100 block of Marion Street Sunday morning.

When officers arrived, they found two adult female stabbing victims dead at the scene. The victims were identified as Nour Al Kherat, 19, of Springfield – believed to be the daughter of the suspect, Osamah Al Kharet, 46, of West Springfield – and Ruwaida Salamat, 39, who is believed to be acts of the suspect's wife.

An adult male victim of a stabbing was also found at the scene and was transported to Baystate Medical Center with serious injuries.

Osamah Al Kharet was arrested and arraigned on Monday on two counts of murder, assault with a weapon to the extent of murder, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He is being held without right to bail and is due back in court on June 16.

The case remains under investigation by the Springfield Police Homicide Unit and the District Attorney's Homicide Unit.
