Victims killed in crash on I-75 in south Georgia identified, including 1 from Atlanta

TIFT COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) – Five people, including one person from Atlanta, have died following a crash on I-75 in Tift County Tuesday evening.

At approximately 6:39 p.m., Georgia State Patrol (GSP) troopers and MCCD officers responded to a crash near mile marker 69 in reference to a crash that killed several people, according to GSP.

An investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling in the center lane of the highway and a tractor-trailer was parked on the right shoulder. The driver of the first vehicle failed to maintain his lane, causing him to veer to the right side of the roadway, strike the rear of the semi-trailer and come to a permanent stop.

According to GSP, the driver and three passengers died from their injuries at the scene, and one passenger was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The victims were identified as:

  • Serigne Mbodji, 22, from Atlanta, Georgia
  • Christopher Dennis, 22, of Hinesville, Georgia
  • Aliyah Miles, 22, from Dallas, Georgia
  • Nation Dawan, 19, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin
  • Ephira Oddum, 19, from Riverdale, Georgia
