Victim of Pennsylvania Turnpike shooting, suspected shooter both dead

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Pennsylvania State Police have released new information about the shooting on a turnpike last week in Lancaster County, saying the victim and suspected shooter are both dead.

There, a 40-year-old man from Royersford was shot dead. He was taken to Reading Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Monday.

Officers identified a white tractor-trailer as the vehicle of interest in the incident. That truck was found Saturday in a shopping center parking lot on Crossings Boulevard in Caernarvon Township, about 16 miles south of Reading in the Morgantown area.

A 59-year-old man from North Dinwiddie, Virginia, was found dead in the cab of the truck from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to state police, who declined to release the names of the two individuals.

Officers said further investigation determined the Virginia man was the one who shot the Royersford man in what they said appeared to be a road rage incident.
