Victim of fatal motorcycle crash in Geiger Grade identified | News

Update, June 5, 11:15 a.m.:

The victim who died Saturday in a motorcycle crash in Geiger Grade has been identified, according to a release from the Washoe County Coroner's Office.

Robert Klein, 76, of Sparks, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma due to a motorcycle and motor vehicle accident.

Update, 8:45 p.m.:

A preliminary report from Nevada State Police says the crash happened near mile marker two on Geiger Grade Road, which is near the overlook, around 4:25 p.m.

A motorcycle was traveling northbound when it crossed into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a Subaru.

The driver of the motorcycle died instantly. Both occupants of the Subaru were transported to a local hospital as a precaution.

Fatal crash blocks lanes in both directions near Loftis Road on State Route 341, Geiger Grade Road.

According to the Storey County Fire Protection District, the accident involved a motorcycle and a car.

Please avoid the area.

According to Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, the road is currently closed. The Storey County Fire Protection District estimates the closure will last another one to three hours, beginning at 6:45 p.m.
