Victim of fatal east Wichita shooting identified, suspects arrested

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The victim of Monday morning's fatal shooting in east Wichita has been identified by the Wichita Police Department as Sebastian Crawford, 25, of Wichita.

WPD said it arrested a 22-year-old Wichita man on suspicion of second-degree reckless murder and a 50-year-old Wichita man on suspicion of criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.


According to WPD, first responders responded at 11:08 a.m. to a report of a shooting at an apartment complex in the 200 block of N. Rock Rd.

Upon arrival at the scene, Crawford was found with a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to West Virginia police, several people, including two juveniles, were inside the apartment. A woman was taken to an area hospital to be evaluated for a medical condition unrelated to the shooting. No other injuries were reported.

An investigation revealed that Crawford and the suspect may have known each other and had argued prior to the shooting.

This is the 18th criminal homicide of 2024, according to the WPD.
