Victim of fatal accident in Johnston County in the United States, 70 people have been identified

WILSON'S MILLS, N.C. (WNCN) — A Johnston County man has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle after a fatal crash involving a tractor-trailer.

Shortly after 1 p.m. Monday, the Wilson's Mills Police Department was dispatched to the area of ​​eastbound US 70 at Swift Creek Road in reference to a crash with injuries.

Police say a tractor-trailer collided with three vehicles, closing the highway for several hours.

The crash killed Bonney Wheatley, 79, of Raleigh, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Six other people were injured in the two additional cars. The driver of the semi-trailer was among those injured. All six people were taken to hospital.

Wilson's Mills police said the driver of the tractor-trailer, Robert Wallace, 77, of Smithfield, was later charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. Court records show he was also cited for failure to reduce speed.
