Victim identified, 'unknown' body found in Richmond, Kentucky home where shooting and fire took place

RICHMOND, Ky. (FOX 56) — Law enforcement has identified the victim in an investigation into a shooting and fire at a Richmond home Saturday.

According to the Madison County Sheriff's Office (MCSO), deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of Jerimiah Avenue in Richmond around 2:10 p.m. Saturday in response to a call about shots fired in the area.

When officers arrived at the home, they found the victim, Nancy Erwin, inside a nearby car with injuries that law enforcement said were not life-threatening. A Madison County ambulance was dispatched to the nearby area and took Erwin to the hospital.

Authorities said that after a fire at the home was brought under control by “multiple local fire departments,” emergency personnel discovered a body inside. The identity of the body was “unknown at this point in the investigation,” according to the MCSO.

Authorities said the investigation was ongoing.
