Victim Identified in Smithfield Hit-and-Run Crash, Authorities Search for Suspect

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — Authorities are asking for the public's help in locating a tractor-trailer that allegedly struck and killed a woman last night on Pleasant View Avenue in Smithfield.

The woman was riding her bicycle when she was killed, police said.

Authorities said they responded to the scene around 9:37 p.m. to find a cyclist had been struck while riding southbound.

At the scene, police learned that the cyclist, identified as Aliana Ciarcciarelli, 25, had fallen and been hit by a semi-trailer.

Police said they are looking for a light-colored day cab and semi-truck combination that was seen in the area around the time of the collision.
