Victim identified in Malta homicide

MALTA, NY (WNYT) – Investigators have released the name of the man who was killed on the night of Friday, May 31. The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office said Brian Miller, 53, of Malta, was struck in the head with a wrench during a large fight. near the Malte Pointe apartments. That blow to the head is what authorities believe caused Miller's death.

Cyrus J. Tetreault, 20, of Watervliet, was arrested and charged with first-degree manslaughter and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Authorities said they responded to a fight in progress Friday shortly before 6:30 p.m. Miller was pronounced dead at the scene.

“It is truly tragic that this situation resulted in the loss of life,” Sheriff Michael Zurlo said. “I am grateful for the professional response of the men and women of my agency and for the quick identification and arrest of the person responsible.

Tetreault was arraigned in Malta Municipal Court and is being held in the Saratoga County Jail.
