Victim identified in Friday night shooting in Odessa

ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) – The Odessa Police Department has identified the victim of Friday night's shooting as 65-year-old James Francis Johnson.

According to the City of Odessa, 18-year-old Brayden Roupp and an unnamed 16-year-old girl have been charged with murder, a first-degree felony.

According to the city, on Friday around 3:39 p.m., Odessa Emergency Communications received several calls regarding shots fired in the 1800 block of Newcomb. When officers arrived, they found blood on the roadway and a trail of blood leading to a home where the teens were coming out of.

Johnson had died of an apparent gunshot wound, according to the city of Odessa.

Officials say one of the suspects admitted to shooting Johnson.

Johnson's body will be sent to Texas Panhandle Forensics in Lubbock and the investigation remains ongoing.
