Victim identified in fatal wrong-way crash on East Washington Avenue

MADISON, Wis. — A woman has been identified in a fatal crash Tuesday in Madison.

In a statement, the Dane County Medical Examiner's Office said Michele Learmonth, 74, of Sun Prairie, died in the crash Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened shortly after noon on East Washington Avenue near North Paterson Street.

The Bureau said Learmonth died from his injuries sustained in the crash.

Madison Police Department spokeswoman Stephanie Fryer said a wrong-way driver crashed into an SUV. The vehicles then drove into a parked, unoccupied vehicle.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

All exit lanes of East Washington Ave. were closed between South Livingston and South Brearly streets for approximately two hours due to the crash.
