Victim identified in Elmira shooting Monday evening

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – The Elmira Police Department has released the name of the individual who was killed in Monday night's shooting near “Gush's Thirsty Bear” bar.

Police said Norman D. Cherry, 44, died at the hospital after being shot outside the bar at 351 East Washington Avenue around 10:52 p.m. on Monday, May 21.

No additional information regarding the incident has been released by police at this time as EPD remains under active investigation.
