Vehicle involved in fatal Frankford hit-and-run identified by police

Police have released images of the vehicle linked to a hit-and-run that killed a 44-year-old man two weeks ago.

Just before midnight on Wednesday, May 29, a silver or white 2016-2020 Mitsubishi Outlander was traveling east on the 1800 block of Torresdale Avenue in Frankford. The vehicle struck the 44-year-old man as he was crossing the street.

Authorities say the vehicle appeared while trying to avoid the pedestrian. But after the crash, the driver fled the scene at a high speed, last seen heading north on the 4000 block of Torresdale Avenue.

The victim, who family members identified as Eric Edwards, according to FOX29, was pronounced dead at Temple University Hospital at 12:24 a.m. later that night. Family members didn't know Edwards had been killed until nine days after the incident.

According to police, the vehicle has damage to the undercarriage and left front wheel arch liner.
