UW offers support following downtown shooting

Around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, June 9, several people were injured in a shooting at a party at the Lux building, 433 W. Johnson, according to Madison police. None of them appear to have life-threatening injuries.

According to UWPD, none of the people injured or involved are affiliated with UW-Madison. UW-Madison is currently not in session.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison offers sympathy and concern to those injured, as well as resources and support to UW students who may have been affected. Students or others affiliated with the campus may have been present in the building or witnessed the scene.

Information on suspects in the incident is not yet available and no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information, photos or video about the incident is asked to contact Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014 or online at p3tips.com. Information may be shared anonymously and could result in a monetary reward if arrested.

UW leaders also express their gratitude to first responders from Madison Police, Madison Fire and UWPD, who all responded to the scene. Multiple off-campus alerts regarding the incident were sent overnight via the BadgerSafe app.
