Upstate Sheriff's Office to Give Out Free Ice Cream This Week

LAURENS COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – Get them while it’s hot!

The Laurens County Sheriff's Office, in partnership with a local car dealership, is adding a new vehicle to its fleet this week. Dubbed The Polar Patrol, the new vehicle – a white Ford work van bearing the sheriff's office badge – looks more like an ice cream truck than a rice cart.

We were looking for a creative way to get out into the community and build relationships. I hope we can have positive interactions and break down barriers with children and adults. LCSO is committed to keeping our children and families safe,” Sheriff Don Reynolds said in a Facebook post announcing The Polar Patrol. “We want to be accessible and let them know they can contact us with any issues they may have.” »

On Tuesday, the Polar Patrol will be on the road from 11 a.m. to noon with stops at the Hilltop Apartments and Glen Apartments, on Independence Avenue, Spring Street and in the Oakwood, Glendale and Southview areas.

On Thursday, the truck will go out from 11 a.m. to noon with stops at Summercrest Apartments, Woodrow and Holmes streets, Laurens Villas and Hardin Road.

At each stop, deputies will hand out free ice cream to community members.

“We plan to visit many different areas of Laurens County and we will announce these locations on our Facebook page. I look forward to seeing smiling faces and connecting with our community members of all ages.
