Upper Darby police are investigating an overnight shooting in the 7100 block of Penarth Avenue that left several roads in the residential neighborhood closed.

Police said the national highway remains open, but there could be delays.

No information has been given on the condition of the victim of the incident, which was reported around 2:38 a.m.

Police radio reports show officers received a call shortly after 2:30 a.m. about a dozen shots fired in the neighborhood. Several people called 911.

Another caller said four people wearing masks were fleeing the scene in a silver car. Police in the area briefly saw the vehicle.

A car was stopped but its occupants were not linked to the shooting.

Within minutes, officers found a person lying on the ground with gunshot wounds at the corner of Penarth and Keystone Avenues. A medic was called, as were other officers, who began to piece together what had happened.
