UPDATE: Suspect commits suicide in active shooter situation near Hamilton Place Mall | Local News

UPDATE: Chattanooga police confirm the suspect committed suicide.

At a news conference, police said the shooter attempted to carry out a plan that failed and ultimately killed himself.

Aside from the shooter, no one else was shot or injured.

Hamilton Place Mall and all surrounding businesses will resume operations after the lockdown.

Police say there is no evidence the shooter ever left the building before killing himself.

As the investigation continues, they are asking everyone to avoid the area if possible.

People working inside the mall said they were on lockdown after the intercom announced gunshots.

Chattanooga police say she is located at 2034 Hamilton Place Blvd., an office building near Marshalls and Santi's Mexican Grill.
