UPDATE: One dead, one injured after Friday morning shooting in Galesburg | WGL 93.7 FM

UPDATE 7/06/24 3:48 p.m.

One person is dead and another injured following a shooting Friday morning on East South Street in Galesburg.

Galesburg police said the shooting was first reported at 11:12 a.m. Friday in the 900 block of East South Street, between Day and Pine streets.

Police said they found a gunshot victim inside 949 E. South St. and he was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim has since been taken to OSF HealthCare St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, after initially being taken by private vehicle to OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. The condition of this person is unclear.

The names of the victims are not being released at this time.

The Galesburg Police Department and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigator continue to investigate the incident.

Police say there is no indication of a larger threat to the public and describe the shooting as an “isolated incident.”
