UPDATE: One dead after shooting at downtown Grand Forks bar – Grand Forks Herald

GRAND FORKS — One person has been confirmed dead and another has been arrested following a reported shooting at Sledsters Food & Brew, a bar in downtown Grand Forks, on Thursday night, July 4.

Sergeant Andrew Ebertowski confirmed there was one casualty, but would not say whether anyone else was injured.

A press release will be issued as soon as possible but, for now, nothing further will be shared, he said.

“Our priority is to conduct the investigation and inform the next of kin,” Ebertowski said.

The incident is under investigation and appears to be isolated, Sergeant Rob Starr said.

“There is no risk to the public,” he said.

The Grand Forks Police Department was dispatched to the scene at 7:17 p.m., GFPD Sergeant Rob Starr told the Herald.

Police remained on scene past 9 p.m., with several vehicles parked and blocking traffic on the block surrounding the business.

The bar was closed off with caution tape and many people – emergency personnel and civilians – stood outside the business. Traffic was blocked with caution tape.

The witnesses were taken aside by a police officer.

The Grand Forks County Sheriff's Office and Altru Ambulance also responded. A Grand Forks County Coroner's vehicle was seen nearby, but not necessarily at the scene of the shooting.

Emergency personnel and civilians gather outside Sledsters Food & Brew in Grand Forks, where a shooting was reported on the evening of July 4, 2024.
