Janel Grant's ongoing lawsuit against WWE, Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis has been stayed at the request of U.S. attorneys for the Southern District of New York, who are conducting their own non-public investigation into McMahon.

The news came directly from Grant's lawyer, Ann Callis, who said:

“Ms. Grant has consented to a request from the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York to stay her case against Mr. McMahon, WWE and Mr. Laurinaitis, pursuant to an ongoing non-public investigation. We will cooperate with all appropriate authorities. next steps.”

McMahon's lawyer, Jessica Rosenberg, added:

“We remain confident that the evidence will prove that Ms. Grant’s allegations are false and that her complaint is nothing more than a fabricated and vindictive account from a disgruntled former girlfriend.”

The investigation was first reported in February 2024 by the Wall Street Journal, shortly after McMahon resigned from WWE for the second time in January following the filing of the complaint against Grant. The WSJ also broke the “silence” stories that resulted in McMahon's first resignation from his longtime post in 2022.

“…a spokesperson for the Southern District of New York declined to comment on the new records. As of Thursday afternoon, a search of the Southern District of New York's electronic filing system revealed no new cases involving McMahon .”
