Update on May 29 Washington shooting, suspect located and arrested | KCII Radio

The Washington County Sheriff's Office has released an update on the shooting that occurred in Washington last month.

On Wednesday, May 29, the Sheriff's Office reported a shooting occurred early in the morning at 2705 Airport Road. One victim suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was transported to University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics and is in stable condition.

According to a press release issued Thursday, during the investigation, Mitchell Ryan Rodriguez, 19, of Washington, was identified and questioned. Rodriguez was then located and arrested on Tuesday, June 4 on outstanding arrest warrants in Washington County. He was charged with attempted murder, a class B felony, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a class C felony, domination or control of a firearm by a felon, a class D felony, and being armed with intent, also a class D felony. Martinez remains held in the Washington County Jail on $100,000 cash-only bail.

The incident and investigation was assisted by the Washington Police Department, Washington EMS, Washington County Conservation and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. KCII will have more information as it becomes official.
