State transportation officials say central Missouri commuters and Lakes Region travelers should soon expect significant delays as crews narrow busy Highway 54 in Jefferson City from the Bridge of Senator Roy Blunt at Missouri Boulevard.

The state Department of Transportation (MoDOT) said crews will reduce Highway 54 to one lane in each direction, from the bridge to Missouri Boulevard, starting in mid-June and continuing through the busy summer season until the beginning of September. MoDOT says you can expect significant delays.

MoDOT tweeted that with a large schedule of projects to complete and with some construction limited due to weather and temperature constraints, they are not able to delay all projects until winter.
