UPDATE: Man arrested in connection with shooting that left one dead, one child injured at football event – Southern Maryland News Net

UPDATE 06/23/2024: The Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit has identified and charged a suspect in connection with a recent murder that occurred at a football event in Oxon Hill.

The suspect is Dajuon Meniefield, 29, of Bowie. He is accused of fatally shooting Christopher Mozee, 33, of District Heights.

On June 15, 2024, at approximately 11:20 a.m., officers responded to Potomac High School on Boydell Avenue after receiving a report of a shooting.

The victim, suffering from a gunshot wound, was found in the stands. He was pronounced dead shortly after in a hospital. A second victim, a child, was shot but his life is not in danger.

With the assistance of the Hagerstown Police Department, detectives from the PGPD Fugitive Unit located Meniefield and took him into custody. He is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges.

Mozee and Meniefield knew each other. At first glance, the motive for the shooting appears to be a dispute.

06/18/2024: The Prince George's County Police Department's homicide unit is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday at a football event in Oxon Hill. The victim is Christopher Mozee, 33, of District Heights. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

On June 15, 2024, at approximately 11:20 a.m., officers responded to Potomac High School on Boydell Avenue after receiving a report of a shooting. The victim, suffering from a gunshot wound, was found in the stands. He was pronounced dead shortly after in a hospital. A second victim, a child, was shot but his life is not in danger.

Detectives are actively working to arrest the suspect(s). At first glance, the shooting appears to stem from an argument between spectators at the event.
