Police say Bravo was taken into custody on Saturday, June 1 after allegedly attacking his grandmother with a knife and destroying her property.

A family member said Bravo was mentally ill and should not have been locked up with other inmates.

It was also reported that he was offered bail, but no one accepted the offer. However, a family member of the deceased said no one had been informed about his release on bail.

The Independent Commission of Inquiry has since opened an investigation into this matter.
