UPDATE: Body of missing teen found in Silver Creek | News

Andre Edwards Jr. was found dead Monday evening in Silver Creek, New Albany Police Chief Todd Bailey confirmed.

Bailey said Edwards' body was discovered in the area of ​​Providence Way, near the initial search area.

Around 4 p.m. Monday, emergency crews responded to Silver Creek after 14-year-old Edwards was reported missing. Witnesses said he did not resurface after going underwater while swimming in Silver Creek.

The cause of death had not been announced as of Monday evening and Bailey said the New Albany Police Department's Bureau of Criminal Investigation was continuing to investigate the case.

NEW ALBANY — A search is underway for a teenager who went missing Monday while swimming in Silver Creek near Providence Way.

According to New Albany Police Chief Todd Bailey, witnesses said Andre Edwards Jr., 14, did not resurface after going underwater.

Emergency services responded to the scene around 4 p.m.

Edwards is described as 5'7 and 120 pounds with medium length curly blonde hair. He was last seen wearing blue shorts.
