UPDATE: A 15-year-old is in critical condition and her sister is being sent to an Atlanta area hospital.

UPDATE 4:37 p.m.: The Troup County Sheriff's Office shared an update with WRBL Tuesday regarding the condition of the two siblings who suffered gunshot wounds.

TCSO says the 10-year-old was sent to an Atlanta-area hospital and her 15-year-old brother is currently “in critical condition.”

LaGrange, Ga. (WRBL) – Late Tuesday night, a tragic shooting in Troup County left a teenage boy and a young girl seriously injured. Investigators say they were brother and sister.

Troup County sheriff's investigators arrived at a home on Bartley Road around 10:41 p.m., responding to reports that two juveniles had been shot. Preliminary findings indicate the 15-year-old man shot his 10-year-old sister with a handgun for reasons that remain unclear. Shortly after, he turned the gun on himself. Immediate lifesaving efforts were initiated at the scene before the victims were transported to the Wellstar West Georgia Emergency Department. The 10-year-old girl was then transferred to a specialty hospital in the Atlanta area to receive further care.

As the investigation is still active, authorities said no further information will be released at this time.
