UPDATE: 50 people displaced after massive fire at Odessa apartment complex

ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- UPDATE (10:34 p.m.)- The city of Odessa says 50 people have been displaced after a massive fire destroyed several units at the Fairgreen Apartments, located at 4675 Oakwood Drive.

The fire broke out around 7 p.m. on June 1 and took several hours to extinguish, according to witnesses.


The American Red Cross has stepped in to help the displaced people and will find a place for the 50 people to spend the night.

The OFR said the Fire Marshal's Office remained on scene at 10:30 p.m. to try to determine the cause of the fire.

No injuries were reported.


Crews from the Odessa Fire and Police Departments responded to a massive fire at an apartment complex Saturday afternoon.

Witnesses at the scene said the fire was contained to one building, but affected several units at Fairgreen Apartment Homes in the 4600 block of Oakwood Drive.
