MENOMINEE COUNTY, MI — A 38-year-old Daggett man was sentenced to prison last week for the 2023 murder of a Menominee County Sheriff's Office deputy. According to WNMU, Nathan Bedgood will serve between 2 and 4 years in prison after pleading no contest in April to assault with a dangerous weapon and resisting and obstructing an officer.

According to WLUC-6, Bedgood was arrested on August 21, 2023 after police received a call about a man “out of control” near the area of County Road 358 W435. Once there, MCSO officers attempted to arrest Bedgood, but he stabbed one of the deputies before being taken into custody.

Before pleading guilty, Bedgood was evaluated by the Michigan Center for Forensic Psychiatry and was found competent to stand trial.
