Union Parish man arrested on two counts of animal cruelty

UNION PARISH, La. (KNOE) – The Union Parish Sheriff's Office arrested Kenneth Taylor, Jr., 41, after the Humane Society of Louisiana alerted them to the presence of two dogs showing signs of abuse. serious treatments.

Taylor surrendered her dogs, Bill and Ted, to a rescue group who brought the dogs to south Louisiana. The rescue group contacted the Humane Society of Louisiana and showed them photos of the dogs and the kennels they lived in.

The Humane Society says the photos show the kennels the dogs lived in filled with feces and urine, and one of the dogs, Bill, showed signs of extreme neglect and malnutrition. The other dog (Ted), according to the Human Society, showed signs of “emotional trauma and distress and nearly died” due to a parasite in his stomach.

“Bill required hospitalization for several days and likely would have died without immediate intervention,” reads a press release from the Humane Society of Louisiana.

Photos and documents relating to Bill and Ted's conditions were turned over to the Union Parish Sheriff's Office.

Taylor, Jr., was arrested on two counts of simple animal cruelty. Shortly after being arrested, Taylor, Jr., posted $15,000 bond.

“We are so grateful to the people who saved Bill and Ted from their hellish conditions, the veterinarians who treated them, and our donors who paid for their recovery,” says HSLA Director Jeff Dorson. “We are also grateful to the Union Parish Sheriff's Office for working with us to bring this matter to court and for seeing the importance of this case. Residents and rescue groups must work with law enforcement to ensure every creature is treated humanely. »

HSLA says it spent nearly $2,000 on care and board for Bill and Ted. To donate to the organization, visit its PayPal account at [email protected] or by sending a check or money order to HSLA, PO Box 750321, New Orleans, La., 70174.
