'Unfortunate': Congress leader Vikramaditya on alleged Kangana Ranaut slapping incident | Chandigarh News

NEW DELHI: An unfortunate incident took place at the Chandigarh airport on Thursday when a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) official allegedly slapped BJP MP Kangana Ranaut.

Congress leader Vikramaditya Singh expressed dismay over the incident, stressing the need for action against the official responsible.

“It is unfortunate that these types of incidents are happening and should not happen to anyone, especially a woman. It is unfortunate that this was committed by a security guard. We have learned that the security guard had grievances related to the incident by farmers,” Singh told ANI.

He further emphasized that the duty of the CISF is to ensure a peaceful atmosphere in the airport premises.

“You have a constitutional right and a platform to express your grievances and problems. Attacking a person like this is unfortunate. The government should take action against this person. Once you are in an airport, you are under the security protection of CISF, and it is their duty to provide you security and a peaceful atmosphere,” Singh added.

In response to the incident, the Central Industrial Security Force suspended the police officer who allegedly slapped Kangana Ranaut. A senior CISF officer confirmed the suspension and mentioned that they were in the process of filing an FIR against the constable.

“We have lodged a complaint with the local police station against the constable concerned. She has been suspended with immediate effect and an inquiry has been ordered into the matter,” the officer said.

The incident took place around 3:30 pm when Kangana Ranaut was preparing to board a flight to Delhi.

Reacting to the situation, Ranaut said, “I am safe. I am perfectly fine. The incident took place during the security check. After completing the security check, a CISF officer waited for me to pass through the cabin. “Later she came to the side, punched me in the face and started abusing me. “

“When I asked her why she did this, she told me that she (CISF official) supported the farmers' protest. My (Kangana) question is how to stop the rise of extremism and terrorism in Punjab,” the BJP leader added.

Meanwhile, the CISF officer involved shared his side of the story. She mentioned that her mother was among the farmers who staged a sit-in protest against the farm laws, which have now been repealed.

“She said that farmers were sitting there for Rs 100. Will she go and sit there? My mother was sitting there protesting when she made this statement,” the police officer said.

Kangana Ranaut successfully defeated Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi constituency by a margin of 74,755 votes.
