Underage drinking occurs during teen hookups in Boulder, police say

Police said parents should be aware of underage drinking, fighting and illegal driving at three Boulder parks.

BOULDER, Colo. — Boulder police warned parents last week about large gatherings of teenagers in parks.

The Boulder Police Department (BPD) said encounters between teens at three parks are “quickly becoming dangerous.”

According to BPD, officers conducted patrols on May 30 at Scott Carpenter Park, Eben G. Fine Park and North Boulder Park. Police issued a dozen tickets to teenagers for drinking under the legal age, fighting and illegal driving.

“While these are minor offenses, the crowds you may see in these videos have the potential to cause such crimes to quickly become even more serious,” police said on social media.

“It can make a difference if parents think their children are going to one type of gathering when it's actually something else. Our goal is to raise awareness to keep everyone safe,” said BPD.
