Ugwuanyi strengthens NDLEA’s fight against drug abuse and trafficking with operational vehicles

Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has donated four vehicles to the command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), to strengthen its operations aimed at eliminating drug abuse and drug trafficking in the state.

Presenting the vehicles to the State Commander of the NDLEA, Anietie Idim Bassey, the governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Simon Uchenna Ortuanya, said the state was more than ever determined to ensure that he got rid of drug abuse and dealing.

The governor highlighted the harm caused by drug abuse to young people who indulge in it, as well as the risk that these illicit acts pose to future generations, stressing that the state government will remain committed to the noble path of elimination of the looper in society.

Ugwuanyi added that the fact that he appointed Hon. Chidi Egbuogu, as the Special Assistant (SA) on Drugs and Narcotics, being the first of its kind in the state.

He stressed that the collaboration between the state government and the NDLEA is yielding positive results, stressing that the donation of the vehicles confirms the determination of his administration in this direction, adding: “I can assure you that we are ready to do more”.

Receiving the vehicles, Bassey commended Ugwuanyi for the donation, saying the vehicles (which are not branded) would facilitate their operations, adding: “As we can now go out without people really knowing where we are going for our operations.

“I appreciate the governor for providing the vehicles and other interventions. The vehicles are in good condition and will allow us to be flexible in our operations. We are grateful and pray that God Almighty will always guide him.
