Tyler Perry denounces alleged racial profiling at airports and supports Eric André's lawsuit

Tyler Perry

Racial profiling at airports must stop

… supports the actors' costumes

Tyler Perryis fed up with allegations of racial profiling at his local airport… lambasting the cops for what he sees as the disproportionate arrest of black people after they've already passed the TSA.

The film and television mogul wrote an op-ed for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Thursday… offering his perspective after a few fellow entertainers filed a lawsuit earlier this year for allegedly being arrested at the ATL Hartsfield-Jackson Airport.

In the play, TP breaks down the case presented by the two actors in the trialEric André And Clayton English — who say they were stopped for no reason as they were steps away from boarding separate flights several months apart in 2021.

Perry accuses these officers of approaching Eric and Clayton because of their skin color before sharing some statistics provided by the men's lawyer, Allegra Lawrence-Hardy.

Tyler says the majority of passengers stopped by Clayton County police — a whopping 56 percent — are black…a wildly disproportionate number, Tyler says, since blacks make up only 8 percent of domestic travelers to airport.

CONTEXT

Perry also calls police for civil asset forfeiture… alleging that they seized property – including cash – that they believe may have been involved in a crime, and further claiming that it t's a way for cops to line their department's pockets. .

Tyler takes the department to task here…claiming that every instance of alleged racial discrimination is an affront to collective dignity and constitutes a “broken promise.”

Don't forget, we told you about it Andre's alleged incident right after he claimed it happened… because he got off the plane and immediately launched into the story while chatting with a Los Angeles photographer. Clayton County has denied Eric's version of events, calling it a “consensual encounter.”

We've reached out to Clayton County Police…so far, no response.
