Tyheed Harvey charged: Suspect arrested after 7 people shot on North Bambrey Street in North Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Philadelphia police have arrested one of the suspects allegedly involved in a shooting that injured seven people earlier this week.

Video captured three male suspects pulling up in a car, and at least one of them fired 17 shots around the block Wednesday night around 6:30 p.m. on North Bambrey Street in North Philadelphia.

The victims, aged 16 to 46, were all shot while outside. Police say one is in critical condition, while the others are stable at an area hospital.

Officers were able to track down the vehicle used in the shooting in the 6300 block of Magnolia Street in East Mt. Airy Thursday morning. It is a charcoal gray Acura TSX from 2004 to 2008. Around 10 a.m., plainclothes officers spotted one of the suspects trying to get into the vehicle and questioned him.

Police identified the suspect as Tyheed Harvey, 23, Friday evening. He now faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy and related offenses.

“This blatant and callous disregard for life has no place in our city,” said Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel. “The quick response and diligent work of our officers and detectives from the Shooting Investigations Group led to one significant arrest with more to come.

Police are still searching for two other suspects in connection with the incident.

The shooting was believed to have been sparked by an argument between minors and that led to the parents getting involved, police said.

Once there, officers found two women who had been shot in the leg.

Police said a 16-year-old girl, who suffered abrasions to her abdomen and leg, was taken to St. Christopher Children's Hospital.

The other four people shot, two men and two women, showed up at the hospital with gunshot wounds.

Sources told Action News that officers were monitoring several other homes that may have connections to the other suspects involved.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS.
