Two teens in critical condition after Syracuse Valley shooting, police say

Syracuse, N.Y. — Two teenagers are in critical condition after a shooting in the Syracuse Valley early Friday morning, police said.

Police were called at 1:06 a.m. to the Seneca Garden Apartments on Riverdale Drive for reports of a shooting, according to dispatches from the Onondaga County 911 Center.

A 911 caller reported hearing four gunshots and finding “a child” in the road, dispatchers said.

The person shot was a teenager who had multiple gunshot wounds, said Kieran Coffey, a Syracuse police spokesman. The boy is in critical condition at Upstate University Hospital, Coffey said.

Around 1:20 a.m., police were notified that a man with multiple gunshot wounds had been dropped off at Upstate Community Hospital, he said. It was determined that person was also shot at the Seneca Garden Apartments, he said. He is also in critical condition, Coffey said.

Coffey said they believe the second victim was a teenager, but they have not yet identified that person.

Around 8 a.m., police and investigators were still photographing the scene. Three Syracuse police vans were parked along the road. Several streets were secured by police tape.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call them at (315) 442-5222.
